The best thyroid medication for weight loss

Can thyroid medications help you lose weight? The answer is yes, but there are a few things to know. The first is that thyroid medications are not primarily weight loss medications. Instead, they are medications that contain hormones designed to bring your thyroid hormone back into normal function. The reason they can help you lose weight is that your thyroid controls and regulates your metabolism. Having said that, not all thyroid medications are equal when it comes to restoring thyroid function. For weight loss, the medications most likely to help include those that contain T3 thyroid hormone. Practically speaking that means medications like Cytomel, liothyronine, any formulation of Natural Desiccated Thyroid, sustained release T3, and compounded T4/T3 thyroid hormone all work.
